Four years ago we stopped for dinner, liking the "looks" of this restaurant. I had my first dining experience of BBQ shrimp and grits. It was so fantastic, most generous serving, and I can't figure out how to replicate it. Have spent the last two hours on chowhound trying to find something similar.

I did not go into the cafe per se, I only went downstairs to the Storm Cellar bar for dinner. But I can echo some of the other comments about the cafe. The food was great! For an appetizer, I had a half dozen of oysters Rockefeller. They were loaded up so much that I thought that could have been a meal alone! I'm glad I didn't get the dozen. I also enjoyed and recommend the Surf n Turf which included a LARGE lobster tail and an 8 oz. Petit Filet. The portions were large and I could barely finish my meal - which is not normal for me.

Service was very good too. The bartender was very accommodating and ready to change the TV to whatever the patrons wanted to watch. The mixed drinks were stiff (in a good way) as they have an unusual protocol of using the mini-bar style bottles for each drink. I was told this was to better maintain inventory. I liked that I KNOW I got what I asked for (no watering down as other bars will do) and I got the proper amount. The atmosphere was comfortable with a slight Helicopter motif (Owner's husband apparently flies them). They also offer wine and cigars for those who indulge in such. The bill ended up a bit high ($75 for one) with $45 of that being just food.

Overall, I strongly recommend this place for anyone. It's casual enough for Families yet romantic enough upstairs for couples. Good atmosphere + good service + good food + good portions = a winning combination. I will be back if business brings me back through Newberry.

Everything about this place is GREAT!: The salads are the best. It takes a little while to get your food, but it's well worth the wait. Always cooked to order.

My waiter was Matt. (Spartanburg, SC) was just great and very helpful and professional and personable at the same time, how hard is that? He was great. Ask for Matt.
