I hear these owners are vegetarian. That explains why we could not get a lamb dish or a beef dish when we went. They were "all out". The quality of the food is "alright" but not great. We have been maybe 3 times and the impression is always just that. . ."alright". Not the best indian food in Columbia.

You don't know what you are talking about. I have lived in San Francisco, NY City and London. All have wonderful Indian food and I was surprised to find such a wonderful Southern Indian restaurant. The owners are Hindu...you are not going to get beef as it is a sacred animal, but you can get lamb, chicken, etc. The food is wonderful but only when Devi or her daughter in law, Leela are there. Her son is not as good a cook so I would call ahead of time to see who is cooking that day. What else is there to do in Columbia, SC but find good places to eat and there are not that many.... this is a find. The Dosa is the best and totally worth any inconvenience of calling ahead and Devi herself is a find should take the time to chat with her it is also worth your while.

We had them catered for our son's birthday party recently and the food was excellent. The weekend buffet is something all South Indians should try. The food is very homely and simple and that's why it is wonderful. My son called the owner "grandma" as soon as he saw her, because she's very warm and friendly. The new place is excellent and I would strongly recommend this place if you are trying Indian food for the first time.

They typically serve south indian food and some items are high quality and tasty. Their uthappam is the best in town.

The chicken curry is a typical south indian (andhra) make, very tasty and a bit spicy too.

There are very few items in the buffet for the price they charge.
