This hotel was wonderful!! My wife and I went to Charleston for our 10trh anniversary. We had booked a regular room, but were upgraded to a suite (without asking for anything). The staff was very courteous in every area from the front desk to the servers in the Barbadoes restaurant to the ladies who brought our breakfast every morning. It was a wonderful experience for both of us. They have made lifelong fans in us. Whenever we come to Charleston (which will be regularly) we will stay at the Mills House!!
I will definitely say that these are the nastiest most unfriendly people I have ever had to deal with. You would think that they would at least show some sort of consideration to the people who book rooms with them....My God look at the price of their rooms. But NO, just about everyone I had the miserable experience of dealing with was rude and condescending.
I would not stay there if it was the last place in Charleston. I would rather sleep in my car!
Will never stay there again.: For the money, the suite was not nice at all, the service and attitude of the bartender had a lot to be desired. When we checked in they did not have us in a suite as we had reserved, however the desk clerk did switch us to one, she was very helpful. We had friends coming as well and their reservation got messed up as well and they charged them the same for a room as they did us for a suite. The ice machine did not work half the time we were there. Overall it was a great disappointment, the only thing I enjoyed was the location.
