| About: | The historic significance of Old Exchange building will always be divided. Unanimous though remains the praise for its architecture. The balcony was used by George Washington to read the declaration of independence. Word is, for generations the place was used to trade slaves. It also served as confinement for colonial traitors and prisoners. Despite being over 2 centuries old, the place still exudes colonial charm and the history can be smelt in the air. Admission for adults is USD7, while students and children can walk in for half as much. |

Great tour - kids (10 and over) would like it also - especially the dungeon with the animated robots and the whole ambiance of the place - architecture is very interesting down there also. This is a very special US historical building so if you are into US history or patriotic this is for you! Tour guides are great and very knowledgable. A must see if you visit Charleston, SC. You are also close to Waterfront Park so stop there for a while and enjoy that also.
Great tour....I like the animated "robots" in the dungeon. I wish i could have gone in the room George Washington was in, but hey....it was a good tour. the guide was funny, and knowledgeable...i would go again.
