Basil has smaller portions but very rich in flavor. The soups are excellent and the service is very good. They gave your your space but were always there when you needed them. One of the finest thai restaurants in town.
I have to say Basil tops my list of 'Best Thai Restaurants". I have had Thai food at several locations, but it's never been as good as Basil. The only draw back I see is that in the last year it's increased its prices and it's not a place to have great conversation (very cozy setting and can get loud). Overall, I think the food is great and worth trying.
Thai cusine lovers beware. If you seek out Thai cusine, or cook it at home, this place is likely to rate as 'just above average' at best. The tables are crowded, and you will be forced to be involved in conversation being had at every table in the place. The cashew chicken was tasty. The Crispy Red Curry Duck was TERRIBLE! It was as if they cooked it in the morning and it sat under a heat lamp until someone ordered it. For one of the 'chef specialities' and one of the most expensive dishes on the menu, it was soggy, fatty, and tasteless. We've had better duck from the local Chinese corner take out place. Overall, it was ok, but we'll find every other Thai place in the city before returning. It is not worth the wait or the price. On a side note, our waiter was very nice; however, he was very quick to take our orders, but very slow to deliver a second beer or more rice.
