This was one of the best dining experiences of my life. The service was impeccable and the food sublime. The foie gras was simply put the best thing I have ever tasted. The duck was perfectly cooked. My wife found the lamb a bit on the spicy side, which came as a surprise to her. I enjoyed it, although I would admit I've had better lamb (Kima in Atlanta!). Neither my wife or I are big fans of coconut cake, so we passed, although after reading the reviews, I think maybe we should have. I injoyed the banana pudding and my wife loved the Chocolate Explosion.

Dinner was expensive, but in our opinion worth it. Great atmosphere inside, incredibly attentive service, excellent wine list and of course, the food was outstanding. I will make it a point to go to Charleston with the idea of returning

This is one of those situations where you expect great service and great food after reading all those terrific reviews and got just the opposite.
We were rushed there . Don't you hate it when you order a cocktail and then food and your drink comes ( a manhattan) with your salad. Now here I am with a whisky and a salad. The waiter had a smirk on his face... think "snotty". A bean soup... sound comfy? It was not. Beans hard and sitting in a beef broth. I didn't eat it and told the waiter when he took the plates off the table that the beans were hard. He could tell we were not having a great time. Paying the check, a woman was sent to our table to say that we would not have to pay for the soup and that the hard beans were cooked "al dente". I would have given those three big butter beans another minute, I think. Not a great dish. All in all an uncomfortable, unexceptional, and unacceptable time in what is supposed to be Charleston's best restaurant. (FIG, nearby, is a better place with happy, conscious servers and better more interesting food.)

I went to eat at Peninsula Grill for the first time not too long ago and was truly blown away. I would definitely rate it as one of the best restaurants in Charleston along with Tristan's and Anson's. Everything was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. My husband got scallops and I got fish which was accompanied by some very unique sides. We were served a green fried tomato which was probably the best I ever had. For dessert I would highly recommend getting the coffee creme brulee that is absolutely to die for. We also tried the panna cotta which has bananas in it, I don't like bananas, but this was good!!!!!!! The general atmosphere of the restaurant was cozy yet a little loud for me but service was outstanding. I will definitely go back there!
