I dropped off a pair of winter riding boots that the soles had separated on. They said to pick them up in 2 weeks. On the day they were supposed to be ready they weren't. I came back the end of the next day and they were under the lamp drying. They were covered in glue. While I waited I watched him use a buffing wheel to take the glue off. This might work on leather, but my boots are synthetic. When he handed them back to me there were visible burn marks all over them. When I addressed it he denyed that the obvious marks were even there!
I reluctantly took them home and attempted to use them. I put them on in my stocking feet and one of the boots was so tight my toes where going numb. I had worn these with thick wool socks before dropping them off and they were roomy. When I inspected the boots one of them was visibly smaller, the toe was lower and narrower then the other. Like he had taken in more material when he reattached it.
I attempted to walk around the house in them hoping they would loosen up. They did, just not how I was expecting, the soles are already beginning to seperate again!! If they cant hold up to walking they defiantly wont hold up to riding.
Even if another shoemaker can fix the soles I still have a expensive pair of boots covered in burn marks.
I have difficulty finding shoes that fit. So when I have problems with shoes I have them repaired instead of going out in hopes of finding another good fit.
