The meat and sauce is good, but the roll is mooshy and they don't serve whiz. I live in Philadelphia and these are not the real deal. If you want a cheesesteak in the south, you need to go to Tampa Bay.

Obviously you don't, because anyone knows a real Philly steak is on a hard crust roll, not soft.

I was born and raised in Philly and a restaurant professional and their rolls are like Subway rolls which also aren't like Amorosso's. Why is it that everyone I talk to in Philadelphia agrees with me? In Summerville, when I asked for whiz they asked me what that was hahahahahaha. What part of Philly are they from if they never heard of whiz? Give me a break, I am a true cheesesteak coniseur and the only place in the south is Florida (Amorosso's rolls, whiz, ribeye, Herrs potato chips, etc.).

It's all good bro, lifes too short too argue over a cheesesteak anyway lol. Publix does have the best rolls in the south. We do the same thing with Publix rolls, whiz, homemade sauce and some good ribeye. You can't beat the city of brotherly love though.

Hey guys,Im from south philly too. I tried every cheesesteak in the charleston area. Phillys in summerville is the best, Dont get confused like i did and went to some other place with philly in the name. The summerville location is the only one that is good (you may have to wait in line but worth it).Don't take this the wrong way but cheese whiz is not the original way to get a philly cheesesteak in fact when the cheesesteak was invented by pats around 1938 there was no cheesewhiz only white american or provolone so that is why they laughed at you if you want chees whiz thats not the origanal sorry.I have been going to phillys for a long time i think they been around for over 20 years not to many places can last that long if they are not doing it right. T he place is always packed another sign that they know what they are doing. So if you want a rip off dude then go to tampa. I can tell you are not from philly if you want whiz on you steak. Whiz wasnt around in the 1930s. Maybe you are just young and stupid lol.But get the facts right. Dont mean to sound harsh but i remember the original way i guess im just old lol.Plus if you talk to owners they are Italian from south philly, (they had a place on girard ave.) ther meat comes from philly, there rolls are fresh baked everyday all there meats for there hoagies come from philly i saw the truck one friday whe i was there. So thats why they laughed at you lol if your from philly you should be able to take a few jabs instead of crying like a baby because they hurt your feelings. It takes someone from phill to make a philly thats why i dont go to chains. These people are from philly.Dont be afraid just talk them and you will know. Also there lasagna is awesome.Know your facts next time.Place like phillys are hard to find, you dont see to many family places around these days.

Sam I respectfuly disagree, Tampa has the best cheesesteaks of the south. They have the hard rolls and 4 kinds of cheese, including whiz which was alway big when we grew up in Philly. Just because it wasn't original doesn't make it bad. Philly's of Summerville is ok but I need to bring my own roll from Publix, because theirs are too mooshy. I did give them 3 stars which isn't bad considering I'm a tough food critic, especially cheesesteaks. I do like the lasagna and other things there.

i understand mark, maybe they do.The rolls are really good at phillys maybe you had a bad one that day who knows.its just when people say because they dont use whiz its not original.Im old enough to remember the original way, Us oldtimers hat cheesewhiz, We prefer to have it with white american or provolone which phillys has. This place has been around for over 20 years not to many place can say that.Any given day you can walk in there and to talk to someone from the philly area and i like that and they all love this place.Maybe they had an off day.But you are right the rolls shouldnt be soft,I would tell them the next time i go there which is about twice a week lol. I do know they are from philly and the meats come from philly. It was nice to talk to you.

Hey guys im a cheesesteak whore lol. I have tried them all,Sout of philly cheesesteaks are average which is good down here,Dont get me started about pizza thats a whole other story.Andolinis pizza is good sometimes,Didnt care for the pizza from south of philly,Its just not what im used too.Spoiled I guess. I think lennys comes in second after Phillys in Summerville. the only drawback is the lines a long sometimes but i guess thats why they are the best,They were voted best a few years ago.

Best philly cheesesteak I've ever had. It does taste like the cheesesteaks I've had in NJ.
