First off, I called this hotel directly to make the reservation. I was told I was being booked in to a king oceanview room-$200 per night. What they failed to tell me is that this room is about 1/3 to 1/2 the size of a normal hotel room. My husband and I aren't big people and we could hardly move around in the room. We had about a 6hr trip to get to this hotel and got there around 7:00pm. We were staying for 2 nights. Anyway, we got a laugh out of the size of the room and went on out to dinner. Came back and around midnight and decided to turn in. We get in the bed and find that the mattress is extremely hard and has hard lumps in it. We brought beach towels and our own bath towels which are thick. We spread out the towels on the bed to try to make it less hard and lumpy. We were only successful in getting it to feel like we were camping in a tent in the mountains and there were rocks in the ground and we were sleeping in a sleeping bag on the ground. Another issue was that the room was so small that the bed faces the door and is right on the door. There is barely enough room to open the door. The main problem with the door was that it wasn't sealed right, I guess, and there was a gap around the frame so bright light from the hall shined in to the room all night. Anyhow, we were really tired and my husband managed to sleep for about an hour. I ended up going out on the balcony and trying to make a bed in using the two plastic chairs provided, pillows and my beach towels. This didn't work due to outside lights and noise. So, my next alternative was to use my beach towels and some pillows to make a bed in the bathtub. The bathtub was much more comfortable than the bed. But, I'm 5'2" and couldn't stretch out. I maybe dozed a little. The next morning, my husband and I were beyond exhausted. I don't usually complain about stuff but this room and bed was truly awful! My husband and I decided we would just go home. I call the front desk at 8:00am and told them the room was horrible and explained why and said that we'd just like to check out. No apology about the room and the lady at the front desk said too bad that they'd still charge me for my second night. This lady also said that they used the same mattresses throughout the hotel and maybe we just got an older one (in a tone of voice that indicated this was somehow my fault). They did agree to put us in another room which they said would be between 11:00am and 1:00pm. We went and got breakfast and got back to wait for the room change. We wanted/needed a nap but couldn't go to bed due to the condition of the mattress. Finally around 2:30pm we were able to move to another room which was right in front of the elevator. This room was larger and the mattress was hard but didn't have the lumps like the other one. After we got the room moved, our day was almost shot. We did shower (the pressure and temperature is iffy. You either have no water or it about blasts you out) and went out to dinner. We left a little early on our check out day! We've never had back problems before but we both do now. I don't know what's important to this hotel but I don't think it's their customers. They really should be ashamed of themselves for renting that first room to us and not even telling us it wasn't adequate. I mean I'm 5'2", 110lbs and my husband's 5'10", maybe 165. I really don't think if you're much larger than us you could even get in there and they rented this room to us without even seeing us. Anyhow, I know not to ever go back to this place!
We love OD Resort. Been here twice a year for 10 years. We always stay here during SOS, which is primarily adults, but I wish the hotel would tell people with children that SOS week in no time for "families". If it wasn't for the children that are there during SOS, screaming, running and just being an annoyance to everyone else, it would be a perfect week. The staff is always courteous, the rooms clean and comfortable. Within waliking distance to everything!
