This was extraordinarily mediocre. After seeing mostly good reviews and with their own website touting a family friendly atmosphere, we decided to try this Italian restaurant on a rainy, drizzly Friday evening. We did not have a comfortable dinner nor one which was "family friendly". We had assured our 5 year old that an Italian restaurant would have pizza on a kids menu. Not only did they NOT have pizza, but when we asked if a small one could be prepared, they looked at us as if we had sprouted abnormal growths on our heads. Service was spotty, menu was limited and I've had better red sauce out of a jar. Save your time and money...
I'm a meat 'n' taters kind of guy, but you can still teach an old dog new tricks. This fine, upscale restaurant has a touch of elegance in it's atmosphere and ambience, without coming off as being stuffy. Street clothes are fine, and the food is finer. If you like a good four-course offering, give them a try. For me, it's a bit pricey, but you definitely get both a quality meal and experience at Umberto's.
We'd been meaning to try this restaurant the past couple of years, but never had the chance. We made a point to go this year... The food was amazing. Simple and rustic, but so delicious-- and more than enough food-- we were practically full before our main course arrived. Definitely, will make a point to go back. The bean appitizer is so good we asked (and actually got ) the recipe for it. Highly recommend.
