The House of Blues in North Myrtle Beach is an attraction that literally has something for everyone.
Musical events in the 2000 seat music hall range from local Beach Music (Chairmen of the Board) to country (Lonestar) to Hip Hop, Rock, Metal, R & B, Jazz and yes, Blues (Delbert McClinton is there often.) When I say 2000 seats, it is a bit of an error. There are no seats. Unless you pay for the upper tier, you stand for the entire concert. I stood from 6:30 in the evening until midnight through two opening acts and an extended Thoroughgood concert. But if you have the stamina, it is awesome to be that close to the music.
The restaurant is top notch. Don't miss the jalapeño cornbread. WOW. The menu is varied and they just got a new chef last year... the food was good before his arrival, now it is SO delicious. They are open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. You don't want to miss the Gospel Brunch on Sunday. Believe me!
Also not to be missed... The Murder Mystery Dinner Theater upstairs. Seriously, it is one of the most fun things to do in Myrtle Beach. The food is great, the entertainment is SO MUCH FUN. The detective is funny and makes sure everyone has such a good time. The talented cast and show changes from month to month, so you can go again and again. We have been a number of times and have always found it to be a TERRIFIC date night. (And if you let the box office know ahead of time, they might implicate your date in the mystery!) The humor runs a bit to the ribald side, so it is best for teens and up, but it is not to be missed.
The house band, NTrance performs in the restaurant frequently or out on the back deck in better weather. They are one of the hottest bands in MB. Having a cold one on the Sugar Shack deck, listening to Grady and the guys is a GREAT way to spend an afternoon.
There is a wonderful display of folk are all over the building, even a small art gallery downstairs. In the summer there is a bar on the front patio that is great to hang at and people watch. The Gift shop has some nifty Blues Brothers merchandise. All in all, if you are in Myrtle Beach, you really SHOULD stop by the House of Blues.
Just eat here. We went for breakfast and have the buffet, the biscuits and gravy were great and the omlette station was to die for. The waiter was so busy with tables all over the place that he couldn't keep up with our drinks, but the other waitresses were more than happy to help us and out waiter was very apologetic. Everyone was friendly and GET THEIR COFFEE. It was incredable. I will crave it when I get back to Ohio.
Awesome: I have to admit my first stop at this one was not very good i missed the show and the place was dead, but friendly people! Then I decided to try again and I couldn't believe it! It was like walking into a different world...the music, staff and space was awesome. Drinks were resonable and very good. I will definately make this a regular one on my trips each summer
