   To all addicts!First you have to admit you have a problem with addiction.Then my hats off to you! The hardest part is accompished, now get serious with your life! I have tried 13 rehabs,lost count of detoxes! I started Methadone in the early nineties! I played around with it also! Now that I had to stare death in the eyes and my life was so unmanageable,it was time at my age of 46 to get with the program or death for me!It's just like having diabeties or cancer,this disease will kill! The Center of Hope, and the staff as a team is like my second family, but by far the most important factor of my life. right now!We as humans always find the faults of ours to be other peoples.Maybe we don't see eye to eye with our counselors all the time,we're not suppose to,or we wouldn't be learning anything about ourselves! I have been coming to the Center of Hope since March 2004! I transferred from the Charleston Center!!! I have a great counselor and I am grateful for that!!! Just remember if you really want this Methadone to work,don't work someone else's program work your own from your case management. I suggest groups,once a week,I go counseling more than I have to. Try to take my methadone the same time everyday,give and take a hour or two! If I have something bothering me and the clinic is closed I call someone else with some recovery time. Please sister and brother addicts, do something about it now,before it causes you jails,instutions,or DEATH!

   I am a new patient at this clinic and feel that it is an answer to my prayers. The staff have been extremely helpful and understanding. Before first going to the clinic I was afraid and didn't know what to expect. The staff made me feel very hopeful and put my mind at ease about seeking treatment. I would highly recommend that anybody in a situation similar to mine to contact the Center of Hope. Thank you.

   Tammy & anonymous patient: I think that we as patients at the clinic are being treated as numbers not as people. I am prescribed a medication by my doctor of a back injury and i am being threatened that if i don't stop this medication i will be mandatorily detoxed. I was phased down after 2 years to level 1 without any warning. I was told by the nurse that she was going to reccomend that i get my 6 take homes back instead now i have to go in every day. Now I have lost the new job I just got. So I don't think that the clinic is being run the way it should be.I hope that in the future they will handle things differently. I really had alot of respect for the clinic up until a few weeks ago when i started to hear about things that are going on there. I think that people's heads get too big when they get promoted to higher jobs, and forget where they come from and why they are there. I thought that they were there for the patients but now I see that it is for the money.

   I have been a patient at the clinic for over a year. In that year I have been without a counselor over half of the time. I have been working the program the way I am suppose to, going to meetings, meeting with counselors when available. I should have been phased up and be getting over a week's take home by now but I am not. I was told the reason is that I haven't had a counselor to facilitate that process. What a crock! Am I to be punished for their inability to hire and retain counselors? I also take issue with the confidentiality policies that are suppose to be adhered to pursuant to federal and state laws, and are not! I am in hopes that this website was created so that complaints could be made, followed up on, and action taken. I suppose that depends on who created it and what their agenda is. Otherwise this program is excellent and I know that it has saved lives, including mine. We are not trying to bash the clinic, but are simply trying to shed light on some of the issues that concern us as well as others. It would be nice to feel that we are decent people with a disease that we are seeking help for, instead of feeling like we are worthless and inferior. One of the employees was overheard speaking to a new employee "You don't understand, THESE people are not like us". How would you feel if you heard someone referring to you in this manner? It is unfortunate that I have to sign this anonymously out of fear for repercussions by staff members. Let me end by saying that in all fairness, there are some wonderful counselors that sincerely care about the patients and they know who they are. However, what is the old saying "One bad apple.........
