Arrogant owner.
Yesterday was our one year anniversary. On our first date, we went to Calhoun's Corner, a quaint reconstruction with parts of the old brick exposed. A few minutes after we sit down our waiter trips and knocks a glass of water into my lap, soaking my dress with ice water. I felt bad for the waiter who was new and embarrassed. We laughed it off and continued getting to know each other while I started to dry out. The owner came over to the table and apologized... Said the waiter was new...No comped drink, or desert...
One year later, we,"Return to the scene of the crime," as we joke. My sweet man has made surprise reservations, calling a week in advance, asking for our usual, a booth away from the service area when we dine out and as always, he gets the name of the person who takes the reservation. We arrive on Saturday night, greeted and ask if we have a reservation. We state that we do at 7pm and what turns out to be the owner, looks over his seating chart for our name. We joke about what happened last year. There are many eraser marks on the page.(1) He says we are not on it but offers us a table. We state that we want a booth. He suggests a booth in the loft area. We go up to look. No booth. We come back down and he says he "Found" our reservation and (2)we never asked for a booth because (3)he booked the reservation himself. We said no, we spoke to a young man and have the name written down at home... He offers us a booth near the service area. We ask if we may have the one in the center instead. He says no, it is reserved and he had to move someone for the booth he was giving us. By now, I'd rather go the McDonalds than give this man who has lied to us several times already any business, but I relent and we take the booth near service. We get a wonderful little waitress, Chris, who adds sunshine and happiness to our dining experience. She would be the only reason for anyone to go there. The food is average, perhaps an off night all the way around. The owner comes by our table and I turn away. He lurks behind it like I can't see him with my peripheral vision and I state loud enough for him to hear,"I can't even LOOK at him!" Then we go back to enjoying each other's company. We have a pleasant time anyway. We leave at 8:30 and (4) the booth we asked for is still empty. When we get home, we find the name of James, who took the reservation and call the owner. He says (5)there is no James that works there. We mention the empty booth we stared at all evening. He said the party just s showed up...He is rude and argumentative. We hang up and he CALLS US BACK to say he just called James and James said he did not offer us a booth (6) Let me understand... There IS no James but suddenly he calls some kid on a Saturday night named James and James answers the phone when OFF from work and says he did not take the reservation. Again! He calls us back to say this and tell us perhaps that is not the right restaurant for us. DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm in customer service and I have never written a bad review. If I don't like a place I just don't go back. I will let everyone know how his man went out of his way to be rude. Along with (6) lies that we caught! Whet ever happened to customer service. how about an apology and since it was our anniversary and we DID return, a piece of cake?
Went here for the first time last night. My first impression was how beautiful the inside is. So romantic. My second impression was how delicious the food was. Loved the crab and artichoke dip. Loved the she crab soup. Even the bread was fabulous. Only complaint was the chicken I had had to much tarragon on it ,but problem solved by scraping it off =P
My favorite "treat": My husband and I try to treat ourselves to a trip to Calhoun Corners at least once a month! Everything they have is wonderful...my favorites are the Grecian Filet, Emperial Filet and the Chicken with Mushrooms and Potatoes. Always try their specials, they are well worth it! They also have a great wine selection.

That sweet waitress is the owner's daughter. And, based on the tone of your review and the comments you seem so proud of having made loudly, I tend to believe YOU are the arrogant one.
