Love this place. A real find for those who like to dine out. The menu has a wide variety. Something for everyone. The fried green tomatoes are so so good and the crad cakes are wonderful. Great atmosphere as well. You will not be disappointed.
I cannot speak to the full menu here, only to the sushi. It is terrible. The miso soup tastes as if they did not realize it is to be made with fish broth and is served in a coffee cup with a soup spoon. The major component is cheap mushrooms. The sushi itself was actually the lowest quality sushi we have ever had. In Los Angeles this sushi would not pass for fast food or grocery store sushi. The plates we were served on were all chipped in numerous spots. I would have thrown them out at home, let alone if I were running a restaurant. It doesn't seem to be too much to ask that if you are going to have sushi on your menu you have the proper plates to serve it on.
The atmosphere leaves something to be desired for a nice restaurant. The service was very slow as well. They seemed to rotate who was our server so no one ever really knew who was supposed to be helping us.
In summary, for the full menu maybe this is a great restaurant and you should follow other advice on here. However, if you are used to good sushi I would definitely recommend skipping this place.
I don't care what anyone says, this restaurant is the most creative and fun place to dine in Clemson. If you are looking for a nice quiet evening, then this might not be the place for you. Sure you could go to Calhoun or Pixies, but the food will not be as delectable and beautiful as the Yellow fin tuna or the grouper, which comes oscar style. Aside both of those, which is only a small selection, nothing compares to the nightly specials that the chef, Shaun Chastain, creates and prepares. The only thing I can say that could be improved, is that it seems the servers seem way too frantic around the restaurant. Do not get me wrong, a young man who served us last time did a great job; he was the political science major guy, who wants to be a lobbyist. But when he was away, he seemed a little stressed, although being professional and personable at the table. Anyway, if you come to Clemson, whether it s for the football games or any other event, stop by the Blue Heron. You will only receive great food, service, and satisfaction. The sushi is amazing as well.
