I have been eating at the Coal Yard for many, many years. It use to be a wonderful little restaurant that you could go with family and friends and they had great food at reasonable prices but that has changed. I have never seen a restaurant go down hill so fast. The menu has changed and not for the better and prices have increased significantly. And the atmosphere is ridiculous although if you are having dinner with someone you don't want to talk with, then it is perfect. The music is too loud and the customers inside have to be louder than the music to hear each other. I love music but when the groups performing sound horrible and you can't think because it is so loud then it has to go. And the latest "suggestion" made by the owner is to leave your kids at home. I am sorry but if I have to hire a babysitter to eat at your restaurant than you better being paying the sitter. If I am a paying customer and my children are not bothering anyone then why can't they come??? Overall the food is terrible and over priced and the owner has no clue how to run a restaurant. Until someone else is running it, I suggest going to Garden Cafe or Italian Garden, both have great food. And FYI all this is coming from a 25 year old female who doesn't have kids. So no, I am not old and no, the no children policy does not effect me directly. It is simply unreasonable.
Service was bad. The food was bad. Just a bad experience.
A great little local dive with great food and drink. The staff if friendly and the owners are great. The grilled salmon is phenomenal!
