Long Cane Academy is an excellent private school. Serving the children of McCormick and the Savannah River lakes community in grades 3K-12 since 1974, Long Cane offers families a safe, family-oriented learning climate. Fully accredited by the South Carolina Independent School Association, all Long Cane teachers have 4-year college degrees, and most are certified in their respective subject areas. The academy also offers its students a non-denominational Christian life experience with daily devotionals and weekly chapel assemblies. Integrated English-Writing and Integrated Math courses prepare its students well for the SAT and ACT tests. Long Cane students score well above the national average on the Stanford 10 Achievement Test Battery and on average with other SCISA accredited schools in South Carolina. Almost all Long Cane graduates enroll in college (90-100% annually). The academy enjoys a proud tradition of excellence in academics, athletics, and school activities & school-community events. The 35-year Long Cane Success Story is a journal of the history and accomplishments of a small, independent school committed to excellence in the total school program. I recommend this school highly.
