Sea Shack

I thought the Sea Shack was great, but this place isn't for dining. It's the experience of ordering at the counter, watching them cook our food if there is room to get a spot and hoping for a table. In truth it is small for the amount of business they have. We went at 6:30 and waited maybe 5 minutes to order and it took maybe 20 minutes to get our food, mind you it is November. I can't imagine what it would be like in full season. The food was awesome. My mom got the Sweet Potato Corn bread and it was almost like a dessert; tasty! The tarter sauce was heaven. My dad ordered the Shack Attack ( a little of this, a little of that) and it was perfect. He wouldn't share his Crab Cake...booooh. I'm going back for lunch tomorrow to get my crab cake. I had the clams, oysters combo...excellent. If you don't know how to go with the flow, (i.e. wait a little to order and may not get a table) this may not be for you.

We waited in line 2 plus hours in the heat it was awful. they had a good selection of food but we are not going back any time soon. The food came in very small portions and we were still hungry afterwards. the sea shack is very small and had only about 15 tables we were wondering why they haven't made it bigger if it is as popular as it is. we did take out and brought it back to our villa but eating there would have meant waiting for hours longer. the hush puppies were a disgrace and where they were cooking was so dirty.

We always ask where the locals go to eat, and the Sea Shack was recocmmended to us.It has been a favorite and we MUST visit at least twice on each visit.Yes..the line has gotten longer recently due to the TV show exposure.Just a few days ago we spent about 45 minutes waiting for supper,but we never considered going elsewhere because we can always count on the food to be excellent.As far as the negative reviews,the staff has always been nice and extremely helpful.If they do not appear to be friendly,it is only because they do not have time to stop and chat due to the number of people that they are trying to accomodate.As far as the quality of the food,in the many years that we have been visiting,we have never had anything but excellently prepared seafood and sides.We had our first tilapia there and it has been a favorite ever since - especially blackened.
