This is silly. You are asked for consent before the picture is taken. If you dont want the picture, taken just say no.

It is much easier for people to remember a face and not just a name. Then when you walk in, you are greeted personally. What is the problem with that? Seems like a good customer service idea.

Dr. Stephens and his staff have done a wonderful job for our family. My wife and I are very particular about Doctors and we have been nothing but pleased with Dr. Stephens.

It is funny how 1 or 2 disgruntled, unhappy people can distort the reputation of an excellent Dental practice.

I only want the best for my wife and children and in my opinion this is one of the finest dental clinics in the area.

I'm confused regarding these reviews. First of all, in all my years as a patient I have never once been mistreated or felt that I was being "talked about". Secondly, I have had my picture taken at my orthodontist and doctors office for records. I don't feel that my privacy has been violated, but then again, I am not a criminal and have nothing to hide. Dr. Stephens and his ladies are very friendly and the front office lady Sandra always gets me an appointment when I need one. Being a patient for a long time, I really feel these previous reviews to be inaccurate and absurd. I have sent alot of people to this office and have never heard a complaint!

This practice photographs it's patients! Beware of any intrusion into your rights of privacy and report them without delay. Research Georgia's laws of Intrusion and consider reporting this practice to the American Dental Association and OSHA. The practice of photographing persons who enter a medical faclity for care is unheard of and alarming.

According to law (Bert Krages II, Attorney at Law) Persons can be "photographed without their consent except when they have secluded themselves in places where they have a reasonable expectation of privacy such as dressing rooms, restrooms, MEDICAL FACILITIES, and INSIDE THEIR OWN HOMES." (Note that privacy in medical facilities is on the same plane as when one is in their private residence.). Medical offices are NOT public settings (as are parks, streets, malls).

The stated purpose of this practice, per "Sandra" at Dr. Stephens' front desk, is because they want to 'get to know their patients better', and so they can "connect a face with a name' when a patient calls.

Sounds very fishy: Every staff individual in any medical practice (being managed by medical care professionals under the Hypocratic Oath) is obligated to provide unprejudiced, unbiased and best available medical care to any and all of their patients without condition (and certainly without photographs). Further, HIPPA law strictly protects the rights of patients and their personal information being extracted by inappropriate or sudden, subtle, or unauthorized means.

Why would any medical care facility wish to connect a face with a name or want to serve their patients better based on a photograph? If this is the true intent, then serve them to the best of your ability--What difference does their appearance make to you? Do you need a photograph to justify providing the best care you can? Further, the medical file contains copies of the patient's driver's licence, bearing a picture. Thus, you have your picture, do you not?

What is the real motive to this photographic campaign? Anyone on the phone or in person should receive the same level of care, regardless of their appearance. This doctor claims to be treating the teeth. So why not take a picture of the teeth. What is the real purpose of a facial shot?

    What's next...fingerprinting?

I would highly encourage anyone who has been photographed and finds the "explanations" (excuses?) alarming or of concern to report this at once to the above-referenced authorities. Anyone can inquire as to filing a civil lawsuit for violation of their personal privacy under "Intrusion" laws of the State of Georgia. Patients who have been photographed should expect and request by certified mail that their photos be removed and all records electronic or otherwise be permanently deleted at once. (Keep a copy for your records.). In claims or suite regarding "Intrusion on Seclusion Claim" must substantiate 1)their privacy was intentially indaded, 2)the invasion was offensive, 3)the intrusion involved a private matter (medical care), and 4)it caused mental anguish and suffering.

Persons may also want to contact local news media and report this to Atlanta radio, television and newspaper sources, including but not limited to CNN. The practice of photographing patients is highly questionable.

Request that a thorough investigation of the practice records be conducted and fines be imposed to the fullest extent for any applicable violation of law to the practice, it's owners and the individual staff members who participated in obtaining photos without written consent.

If it were possible to post a negative star rating for this practice, it would be done.

Dear 20legalbegal, I have been to several medical and dental appointments and have had my picture taken as part of my record. I am also a patient at Dr. Stephens and was asked, recently, for my picture as well. I'm sorry, I don't see this as any great conspiracy. Also, Please know, I did not feel forced in any way, shape, or form to give them my picture. In the time I was waiting in the waiting room, it didn't seem, to me, that anyone else had a problem either. I'm assuming you are a grown man/woman of "sound mind"? If you or anyone else here has a problem with your picture being made a part of your record in this or any other office that you visit, then perhaps you should exercise your right to say "NO". No one can force you to do anything you are not comfortable with, and Dr. Stephens office, I'm sure, would respect your wishes not to have your picture made. The day I was in the waiting room, people were asked to have their picture made. All of the people, I witnessed, agreed. (They gave verbal consent) Case closed. "Verbal Consent = No Violation" This is silly.
