A historically black university which desegregated in 1954, Kentucky State University has its roots way back to the year 1886, when it was opened as State Normal School for Colored Persons. With the first graduate program offered in 1973, the University, today, has its campus spread across 511 acres (207 hectares) and comprises three major colleges. Apart from the colleges, it is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities like cultural hall, playground, athletic center etc. for the overall development of more than 2000 students every year.
