Reserved verandah for my birthday brunch. Wonderful setting. Food/owner - another story. Quality ok but quantity for same meal on different plates varied greatly. Owner unpleasant when questioned about problems on check. Sorry we won't be back.
A great place to eat in downtown Stone Mountain: This is one of two restaurants near Atlanta that I always pick to go for on my birthday. The restaurant is located in an old antebellum type of house. It has an entire history that gives you a feeling of the area around 150 years ago. Try to go in the spring or fall and sit outside. It is an experience you will not forget. The veranda is great and if you sit on the side you are shadowed by a beautiful birch tree. Since you are right next to the train tracks, your dinner might be interupted by a train passing, but the interuption seems to make the experience even more special. Now on to the food....It is EXCELLENT. My favorite is the rack of lamb, but I have tried several dishes here and I've never been disappointed. While I do consider myself adventurous with food, some of the vegetable side dishes are not always things I like, but they will happily substitute any side dish on their menu for any on their set entrees. The dessert menu is excellent as well. My favorite would have to be the deep dish Key Lime Pie. I've tried several of the other desserts, but I keep coming back to this one. It is excellent! So, if you are looking for a nice evening out with a small group of friends or even a nice romantic dinner, this is a wonderful place to consider.
Fine dining...with a twist....: My husband and I were looking for something a little different and we found it here! It's located in a beautiful, old house and rumor is, it's haunted!! The food was fantastic, be it a little pricier than we usually go for, but it wasn't too "uppity." The service was wonderful and we even got a personal tour of the entire house after our meal. I look forward to going there again, but that may be saved for a special occasion. I highly reccomend it for a romantic evening out....(you can even see the mountain out of the windows!)
