We drove to Rome to eat at El Zarape based on the reviews we read here- not a completely wasted trip, but a let down. There are definitely much better Mexican restaurants in Georgia. That said, the beer and margaritas were cold, good and reasonable. The menu prices were not bad, and the chiles rellenos (they called them Poblanos) were a stand out. Everything else we ordered, from the bland guacamole to the regulation enchiladas were the same every other mediocre Mexican place serves up. The salsa was good though, I'll give them that. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there, but if you're walking by and hungry and thirsty it will get the job done.
The greatest Mexican joint ever!!!: We frequent El Zarrape on Broad street and we just love everything about it! The food is great, the service is great, the atmosphere is friendly and the beer is cheap :)
Can't wait to go back: This place is grreat to eat at if you like Mexican Foods. Their service is great and fast. The waitress/waiters are very nice and clean cut. Their food is very good and it's not as prices are lower then most places but El Zarape's food is a whole lot better!!

El Zarape is BY FAR the best mexican food I have ever eaten. The servers are very friendly and not at all over the top. The building has a warmth to it that more polished establishments lack. The food is very reasonably priced and by far the best I've ever tasted. I've tried many different mexican joints all across the country and El Zarape surpasses them all. Deffinately a reason to frequent Rome. ps. Order something with Tequila in it and they will not be cheap with their liquor. One mixed drink can get you where you want to be and taste delicious all at the same time!!!
