The outside atmosphere is excellent, but for the food they have good days and then better days. The food is almost always excellent, the service could be better polished. I've ordered the potato crusted fish and it was excellent. The next time I ordered it the crust was overcooked, salty and greasy. For German food, choice of beer and excellent wines they get 5 stars. It's the food and portion sizes that need consistency.
With a German mother in law who has been gracious enough to teach me how to prepare many authentic German dishes it was a delight to find a place that sells traditional brotchen and German Coffee. As baking is just one aspect I never enjoyed. I have traveled to Germany a few times and those have always been a favorite. The price is right and they freeze well. I love the bakery! Great place to have a meal whenever I don't want to prepare the food myself. Looking forward to the Oktoberfest month.
The bakery goods are good but the service is poor. I ordered decorated sugar cookies a week before my son's birthday, for his school birthday party. The bakery called me 90 minutes before I was scheduled to pick them up and told me that the cookies would not be ready until two days later. When I asked why, they said that the cookies take a long time to make and that they ran out of time. I pointed out that I ordered them a week in advance so that they would have plenty of time.
No apology was offered and they left me in the lurch. Their bakery goods are not good enough to tolerate such lackadaisical, lousy service.
