User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsAlways Enjoyable!: This restaurant is always busy - that should tell you something right there! Try going during the week - less wait for a table, less hurried staff, less crowding at the tables. The Chefs perform Exhibition-Style cooking for each table, and they serve the food as it is cooked. Talk about fresh! The service is always good, no matter how busy they get. They do add 15% onto your check for gratuity - which, in some cases, they may be selling themselves short by doing this. The food prices are high, average dinner is about $17.95, plus drinks, yet the food is exceptional, all amenities are included - soup, salad, entree, fried rice, vegetables, and dessert, with fortune cookie - so it is not really that expensive when you consider all of this comes with it. All in all, I would say that you get your money's worth, especially with the entertaining chefs playing with fire right before your eyes!
The major drawback to this establishment would be the typical Japanese restaurant-style seating arrangements - often you must sit cramped at the table, with some one else's kids up under your elbows, while they play with their toys around your plate. This is typical Lagrange for you though - the people here take their unruly children to nice restaurants, and don't make them behave themselves while in public. Last night we dined next to a party with kids who were already finished eating, waiting on their dessert. The parents minded their own business instead of minding their kids, while the kids played, jumped, rocked, fought, and carried on, while crammed up under our elbows, our chairs locked together due to space constraints...luckily they do serve alcohol! This improved the mood, yet the parents never once spoke to their children to try to calm them down. Once they left, the rest of the evening was enjoyable.
I've eaten here on several occassions, the food is always great, the service is always good, and the children are always unruly... It's the price you have to pay for Japanese Cuisine in Lagrange!
Did I mention that not only do they have a full bar, they also have a sushi bar? I am not a sushi eater myself, yet others who are, love it.
We continue to dine here because the food is soooo good!
