We felt like Royalty!!!: Location is great. It is a 10 minute walk to Atlanta aquarium which is wonderful and the new Coca-Cola Museum opening summer "07".Hard Rock cafe, Hooters and McDonalds is within walking distance. Peachtree Mall is a short walk away with many nice stores and a great food-court. Taxi's are stationed at the hotel and for you baseball fans, Turner Field is $20.00 round-trip. This was a first stay for us at a Ritz and it was everything we expected from the name. Everyone from the the front desk to the bell-hop was exceptionally pleasant and friendly, calling us by our names always. The Ritz is known for their many perks they have from the robes and slippers to the Egyptian high-count sheets and down-filled pillows. I had mentioned it was a special wk-end for us when making the reservations and our first night on the town,we were pleasantly surprised to find upon our return, champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries in the room. We felt so welcomed that we are planning another get-a-way to this wonderful hotel. I would highly recommend this Ritz
to anyone that is considering a stay in a 5-star, top of the line hotel. You will not be disappointed!!!

The NIGHTMARE IN ATLANTA: New Years Eve .I had reservations for their special New Years Eve package.Includes room, dinner and dj party until midnight.
Arrive at 3pm.Valet car went well.Checkin a little bumpy-desk man was a little grumpy...
We get through check-in and we're off to the room. Not thrilled that we were not on the club level floor as i had upgraded to club level. We were 4 floors above. I accepted that because it was a special occasion and assumed they were very busy. We get to the room, walk in, and the bell man asked if everything was ok. At that point I looked at my wife and I responded that no it was not, it smelled like a bar full of smokers. I asked the bell man to get us another room and he did. They were no other rooms available so according to the front desk the best they could do was put a air purifier in the room for a few hours to try and remove the smoke odor. Thats not acceptable so I asked to speak to someone in charge. After another phone call to the desk by the bell man they said they found a room on the club floor and we could move to that and a associate was on their way up with a key. The bell man left and we were waiting in the hall way for at least 15 minutes. At that point a woman approached us with our key and took us to the elevator. Meanwhile no one helped us with our luggage or our coats, we took it all ourselves. The elevator door opened and she just told us to go right and we had to find it, she did not offer to walk us to our room. We got to the room and this one had a sewer smell to it. We went to open our door only to find that the room was occupied. We went back to the desk and again asked for a mamager to come help us. They sent us a customer service person.I asked him to get me in the Buckhead Ritz.I had all I could take a t this point. After a very half hearted effort he said he would be back in a few minutes. After 15 more minutes we were offerd another room which I was taken to by an associate. This room smelled like it was filled with dirty wet socks-the associate agreed. At this point two hours and 4 martinis later we were offered a suite and the evening would be comped.
Dinner was good but the evening really didn't have a chance after such a bad start. We wound up in bed at about 11 pm. Got up for some water only to find 3 of the water bottles in the room were used and refilled by a previous guest.T he white robes were yellow. The coffee table had a broken leg and the blanket on the bed was missing a sheet.

Certainly NOT a 5 Star Hotel, but NOT Bad: This hotel was picked because of the price. It's cheap for a '5 star' hotel, and it's cheap for a reason. The reason is: IT'S NO 5 STAR HOTEL. It just doesn't live up to the service, decoration, or anything else. I mean it's NOT a bad hotel, not at all. It's just not a 5 star. If your reading this review looking for a snooty-tuity ultimate luxury hotel, this isn't it. But if your in the 5 star section thinking you can just find an above average nice place, you found yourself a darn good jackpot.
