| About: | Constructed by architect G. Lloyd Preacher between 1928 and 1930, this hulking building serves as Atlanta's seat of civic operations. Standing 11 stories tall with dramatic Gothic-arched entryways, the building is surfaced with cream colored terracotta tiles, contrasted by green terracotta in vertical tiers above the windows. The balustrade and main entrance are constructed of locally-mined white Georgia marble, and provide a stunning facade on the Mitchell Street side. |
