We made reservations for 9pm and when we arrived on time, we were greeted by a long line that extended to the entrance of the restaurant. I told the hostess that we had a reservation and thus we should not have to stand in line. She informed me that the line was for reservations and that they were backed up. They made no provisions to ensure that we were seated in a timely fashion, which was unacceptable! The hostesses were rude and unknowledgeable about what was going on. When we were finally sat, at 10:40, the server took forever to get to our table. Once we ordered our food, it didn't take lone for it to get there, which is to be expected because it was tapas. Unfortunely, the service was sub par at best, but at least the food was tasty. Then once we make it outside to pick our car up from the valet service, there is ANOTHER long line that extended to the entrance of the restaurant. It took forever for us to get out car and he didn't open the door for my passenger. Then when I checked my account online, the retard server charged me TWICE for me meal. Ugh! Never ever ever again!!!
I HATE the new location. I loved Loca Luna when it was at Sixth and Juniper. The vibe, atmosphere and decor was fun and laid back with lots of outdoor elements inside. The new location at Amsterdam Walk is stark white with neon lights and excessively loud music. I went to the opening in January and was extremely disappointed. My boyfriend and I tried to go back for dinner on a Sunday night not long ago and walked out before we were even acknowledged. The hostess was not at the stand out front so we wandered around the dining room, unable to hear anything but the live band. We walked out and went to Pura Vida instead.
BEST FOODIE EXPERIENCE! A group of 7 girlfriends went to this restaurant on 2/29/08. We had dinner reservations made through Open Table, yet I did call the actual restaurant the day before to ensure that this was honored. NO problems.
PROS: (1)The food was fantastic. I am not a picky eater, but I can tell the difference between good food and great food and Loca Luna dishes were SUPERB! It was a large group so we tried many items yet didn't leave room desert. The calamari, butternut empanadas, spare ribs and spinach were my ultimate favorites. Everything on the table to eat was wonderful, fish taco, traditional empanadas, potatoes, flat iron steak, etc! (2) Peter the bartender; the best. I was compelled to give him an extra tip even though a customary tip was added to the table because of the size of our party. Thoughts of his Tropical mojito make me want to make the trip there now. (3) The vibe of the place is great as well. The band is a wonderful plus. (4) Our server was good and extra runners brought out most of our very large order quickly.
CONS: (1) Bartender's drinks could be more consistent. If Peter didnât make it, it wasnât worth drinking, but I know who to go to for my drinks. (2) It rained that night so sitting out side was a little challenging due to some rain coming through their covering. I would usually pitch a fit about something like that, but the dining experience was so positive, who cares!
BOTTOM LINE: Give Loca Luna a try. I have only been there once, but I will go again and hope to have another great experience. JB

I "somewhat" dislike this new location. I like the fact that at the old location you could have sit around in certain areas and view the dance floor. I also think the music was MUCH better at the old location on Saturday nights. On Saturday 9/27 the band was great but when the DJ took over at one point they played a bit of Latin/Techno music I called it, it was âhorribleâ. Many just stood around on the dance floor unaware of how to move and it definitely went on way to long. Also, I think they should cut a hole in that solid wall which would open up the view to the bar and the dance floor to create a look of openness which they certainly had at the old location. What I did like was the food was still very good and I love all the security in and around the facility. With a little tweaking it can be great again.
