About:This popular Midtown spot is almost as famous for its down home soul cooking as it is for the celebrity owner. The singer who made "Midnight Train to Georgia" a national hit has another hit on her hands, along with her son and partners Ron Winans and Reginald Washington. The entree menu changes daily in the casual dining room, but features such favorites as Southern fried chicken, collard greens, and of course, grits. The fresh-baked biscuits and indulgent desserts also draw loud praise. No alcohol.

The food was delicious. Everything taste well seasoned and nice portions. Customer service was nonexsistant. My boyfriend and I stood at the front desk (we were the only ones up there) and NO one even acknowledged us until it was time to be seated. No hello welcome to chicken and waffles, or how are you...NOTHING. They looked at us and said nothing. Our waitress didn't pay us any attention, never filled our drinks til the end when we asked for it. I'm use to waitresses taking notice to small details like that and giving great customer service.

    Great food, bad customer service!

the chicken was good and the waffle too, the service was alright but the collard greens were $3.50 for a little side dish, way too expensive if you ask me.

unless you park in the back or alley or whatever it is you, I dont know, some homeless guy wanted to show me but I didnt follow him, anyways you will have to pay $6 bucks to park there. Cool atmosphere though and close to many things in downtown.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! We were visiting from California during the week of 6/22 (last week). This was on our list of one of the "Must-go-to" places, as we've been hearing all the hype about this place. We walk in around 1pm. We had a party of 6 and was told that it'll be a 15 minute wait. Fine. We all sat in the lobby area, talking and carrying on light conversation, while we anxiously awaited our much anticipated dining experience. 15 minutes go by... we are still waiting. We see a few families of about 3-4 come in and get seated right away... 10 more minutes later... we're still waiting... this time we see a family of 5 and another couple come in and get seated right away... ANOTHER 10 minutes go by...we're still waiting. Not only did the young woman working at the front counter even look over at us, she's busy flirting with one dude, who came in for a to-go order. Then we see several employees come and go from the front counter, notices that we've been waiting for quite a while, but not ONE time did anyone offer us a complimentary beverage or give us an update on our table, or offer any kind of apology, NOTHING. One guy was clearly the Manager, whom looked over at us several times in passing, and not ONE time did he approach us to say "We're sorry, but it's taking us a while to get you a table, please bear with us.." or something....! We were COMPLETELY IGNORED from beginning to end. We had to ask them for an update, and it was ONLY after we asked for an update, that the woman went in the back to check on a table. It was almost as if she completely forgot about us, it definitely felt that way. By this time, we were exhausted, hungry and really felt cheated that we had to pay to park and wasted so much time, only to come out empty-handed. SAD.

THIS PLACE HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. And as an African American woman, I want to support businesses in our communities, but this left a really bad taste in my mouth. Many black businesses make it harder and harder for us to support them, because they appear to lack certain "customer service skills." Many times, they are downright rude and act as though it's a burden for them to serve you and this is very unfortunate. This is not a relfection of Gladys Knight and Ron Winans, but they really need know what's going on and they need to find out who is running her restaurants and get some friendly, professional, QUALITY people in there, that know what they're doing and are more than willing to treat their paying customers with respect! Which is why, I will be sending Gladys and Ron and their Mangagment a long letter, to let them know what's going on at their establishment.
