Horrible food delivery issue....beware: The only reason I did not give Golden Buddha a 1 star rating is that the food is actually very good. BUT, if you have food delivered, beware that if you order anywhere near closing time, you will have to deal with an unhappy delivery person. Not once, but twice have I had a delivery person(who I think may be one of the owners)come to my home and give me a lecture on how I need to place my order way early in the evening. (Their closing time is 10PM). Each time I have placed this "late" order it has been no later than 9:15PM. The first time this happened we waited an hour and 30 minutes for our food when it finally arrived at 10:35PM. I thought they forgot us. When the food arrived, the delivery man informed me he was sorry the food arrived so late, but that he has to close up shop first. He actually admitted that he deliberately made me wait for my food because he was closing up. Unbelieveable. Unfortunately, my boyfriend decided to order from them shortly after that and he had the same experience. This time, the delivery man told him that we ordered too late in the evening and that he has to cash out his register...it's the end of the day...bla bla bla. Then he had the nerve to get upset because my boyfriend decided not to give him a tip! We have spent literally hundreds of dollars on their food and have ALWAYS tipped 20%, to be treated this way. They will never have to worry about a late order from us as we will never order anything from them again. Thank God Chinese Buddha is open again,( this time on 10th Street everybody) because that is where we will be getting our chinese food from now on. Golden Buddah had a chance to win our business when Chinese Buddha closed down due to the construction on 14th street, but they blew it. There are way too many chinese food restaurants for Golden Buddah to take good customers for granted.
Below average at best: The worst part about this restaurant is that the service there is horrible. I've been here twice both times to entertain out of town guests. I guess they must know this as they always charge gratuity automatically.
The food is average fusion I would say. They probably try to do too many things and do none very well. Yet, the food is the best part of the experience and certainly not bad.
They're also on the pricey side for a chinese place with their kind of ambience(especially considering the gratuity they tack on). I'd only go there if I don't have time to go anywhere else.
An Excellent Asian Restaurant: Each year, I go to Atlanta to see the Atlanta Braves. Each year, I always stay at the Embassy Suites at Centennial Park. Each year, I also go to the Golden Buddha. When I went to Golden Buddha for the first time, I truly enjoyed myself. A sushi bar, a menu full of interesting options, all from different Asian cultures: Japanese, Chinese, Thai. It was great. Not only was the food excellent, but it came in a large portion, more than most other Asian restaurants! In contrast to the other review, my order came rather quickly within about ten to fifteen minutes (about as long as other Chinese restaurants). Also, in contrast to the other review, I found the waiter to be quite polite, careful, and courteous. He noticed when I was low on my beverage. I did not have to request anything of him because he had already done it. Overall, I had an excellent experience at this restaurant.
