Company Information: Elvis Presley was far from alone in his lust for Krispy Kreme. Since 1937, this donut-maker has peddled its deep-fried delights all over the Southeast. The white walls and old-time counter-style interior are frequent landmarks throughout Atlanta, but this Midtown location is one of the oldest. The traditional Krispy Kreme is a deep-fried puffy affair, simple white batter glazed heavily with sugar. Look for the red light atop the sign when driving by, which means a fresh, hot batch is ready. See website for donut menu, online gift shop, and locations throughout North America.

ATL's Krispy Kreme actually ran out of doughnuts!!: Believe or not, Krispy Kreme actually ran out of doughnuts at the Atlanta store location (Ponce de Leon). What is even more obsurd is that this is not the first time this has happened to me. Whereas, I went to this same location the Saturday before (06/24/06) and they were out of a several kinds of doughnuts, one being Krispy Kreme's # 2 doughnut--the Chocolate Iced Gazed! Wow, now I know why the company's stock went from the mid $50's to $6/share!!!
The Place is a true CLASSIC!: Okay, I know the Krispy Kreme craze spread across the country and has died out. The put up new stores everywhere, and in those stores you can watch the donuts being made, and even sometimes get a free hot sample fresh off the belt, but this is the Original. It has so much history and character. Being a southerner I didn't understand the craze when the first Krispy Kreme opened near Boston, I was like, hey I grew up with Krispy Kreme, selling them door to door for fund raisers, etc. But unlike those new stores across the country, this place is special!!!
hot donuts, yum!!: Perfect place for anyone hungry for something sweet especially little kids. Not particularly nutritious but it's a treat afterall. The dining room is spacious and retro. And everyone gets to see the huge donut machine making donuts. It's really great fun.
