The Majestic is known best for its generous breakfast menu, and there's no better place to clog your arteries first thing in the morning. Try the meatloaf plate if you're the adventurous type.
The Majestic used to be famous, or rather, infamous for one thing only: A very greasy spoon to visit after you had been partying all night long and needed a cup of coffee to sober up. I used to live down the street from The Majestic and decided to give it a try, even though I don't drink or party.
Boy, was I pleasantly surprised! Sure, you can order the old standby: a hamburger and greasy fries. You can sit and drink endless cups of coffee and watch all the strange and weird denizens of Ponce De Leon, and believe me, there are a lot of those!
But you should check out the menu and order something that isn't fried. They have specials every night of the week and some of the specials really are tasty and don't cost a fortune. You can get the main meal which comes with soup or salad, a vegetable, and your choice of bread. I like the turkey dinner anytime of the year. Once I even ordered the grilled salmon with rice. It was very good. Sometimes the specials are so good that they run out of it early on so be forewarned. This is a very busy restaurant.
They serve breakfast all day and the pancakes are gigantic. Waffles are small but delicious. Coffee is good and plentiful, according to my girlfriend. I hate coffee so I can't comment. :)
The wait staff is young, pierced, and tattooed. For the most part they are quick and friendly, although I have had some encounters with surly and sullen waitresses who acted as though they didn't give a damn and couldn't wait until they could run outside to chain smoke endless cigarettes.
Ask if "West" is still there. He is a great waiter and a really cool guy.
We liked this restaurant. First time there as we were visitng Atlanta for a dr. appt. Very good experience. Liked the fifties type restaurant. Coffee a wee bit strong..but they GAVE me a coke instead:) everything cooked to perfection:)
the menu is classic and the decor is oddly reminiscent of old high school cafeterias. GREAT place to stop in after hours when you've had too much to drink and need some greasy stuff to fill you up!
