About:This is what Southern food is all about. Sister restaurant to the more famous Fat Matt's Rib Shack , the Chicken Shack sits just north of the fashionable Midtown hotels, but would look more at home on some lonely country highway. A few tables are assembled inside if you wish to linger or you can take your feast over to the patio at the Rib Shack across the parking lot. Fried chicken reigns, but shrimp, clams, onions and various other goodies receive the royal deep-battered treatment too. You won't find better fried food in Atlanta or anywhere else.

    Broccoli casserole is the best I've ever had. Fried fish was exceptional. Everything was good and reasonably priced.

    Don't miss the fish!: Fat Matt's Chicken and Fish looks just like the hole in the wall you'd been told to look for,and if you blink you will miss both it and it's sister Fat Matt's Rib Shack next door, but you can't miss the traffic trying to get into the tiny parking lot. Excellently seasoned fish and fried chicken, sweet tea, and even sweeter lemonade, a lil slice of a down home fish fry, available for take-out.
