This place is overhyped. The barbecue isn't even marginal. It is extremely cramped inside. There are many other places I'd go first.
Fat Matt's is all dat, I frequent the joint almost every Thursday. Now, being from Tennessee I know good ribs, and Fat Matts is the best I've had.
Don't know to start with this one but I feel like I should let others know about this average joint since it was rated on Yahoo as one of the best. I can't see how people see it as that great unless they are just into the atmosphere, because the food is just okay. The bbq sauce is on par with other good restaurants. I've had much better at Daddy D's BBQ joint but it has also been hit or miss there too. If you're debating whether to go with a sandwich or the ribs. Take the sandwich. The ribs aren't worth the slightly higher than average price. It also seems they try to cover the flavor of the meat with their BBQ sauce. I like Kansas City Style but you still need to have good meat underneath. You have to serve yourself which isn't so bad except waiting in line for more beverage and the seating is very minimum but so is the parking. If you've ever had good Memphis ribs then this place will be an utter disappointment if you expect similar.
