I am a UGA student and have taken my bike in to be worked on several times. I bought it in Atlanta 3 years ago. They are extremely helpful. Even fixed my water cage for free. I also go to spinning class there, and they have the best in town. Be sure to take Dan's class.
I stopped in Athens to do some mountain biking on my way further south, and bent a wheel on the trail. This was the only shop I saw coming into town.. wish I had checked online. They said they could fix it in three hours (this would be at about 1PM), so I left it. Tried calling at 3:30PM, and they said they were working on it. Tried again at 4.. no answer. Stopped by, since they had told me they close at 5, but sign on the door says CLOSED; it was 4:10. I would have gladly just taken my bike, since I had accommodations in another town. Couldn't get a hold on anyone using the phone numbers. Next morning, they STILL hadn't fixed it. Dropped by another shop downtown and I was out the door and on the road in 45 minutes. The manager at cycle sport absolutely refused to apologize. I don't see what he had to lose after wasting my day, costing me a new motel and screwing over my plans. Strongly encourage you to research and try elsewhere.
Low-quality parts. These guys have slightly lower bike repair/rebuilds prices, but all their parts are low-quality. I would challenge you to find a replacement part from them that is not "Made in China". At least the guys that work on the bikes are friendly and seem to know what they are doing. I would guess the managers (which I have asked for but never met) are in charge of stocking parts. Even if the price is higher, I would advise another local bike shop in Athens-- at least you'll know your bike won't break again within a week.
