Since I was a teenager I've worked on my own trucks and cars - retrofitting brakes and clutches, swapping out transmissions, even rebuilding engines. But for the past 30 years whenever a problem became too thorny for me I took it to Steve at Car Craft. And now that autos have become so sophisticated I'm taking more and more work to him. Repairing mechanical (and now digital) systems is both an art (an intuitive sense gained through years of experience) and a science (up-to-date information and equipment). Car Craft has plenty of both. They are always happy to give you a lift home if they need to keep the car a while or will lend you a courtesy car or van if need be. They keep the customer informed as to the progress of the repairs and give accurate estimates of costs. And they're honest. Sometimes the first repair doesn't solve the problem but they will get it right and only charge for the actual fix. None of the mumbo-jumbo about coincidences, etc. that you get at dealerships. Steve really believes in the Golden Rule.
Wife's comments: Around 7:30 one morning this fall I was on my way to the gym when my Volvo suddenly lost power. I pulled to the curb and called Car Craft. Greg answered and suggested that since Steve (the owner) was on his way to the shop he might be able to swing by and take a look. Within minutes Steve's VW van was parked behind the Volvo and he was under the hood. Some hose connection had come loose and Steve used a shoelace from one of his shoes to fix the connection enough to drive it to the shop where he promptly repaired it correctly. I was so grateful for the speedy, early morning rescue that later I sent him a thank you note and a new pair of shoe laces.
They have been in business for over 35 years which says a lot and are honest and reliable. I have gotten excellent service from Car Craft. They underbilled for man-hours to help me out on a recent service. It's true that they do not absorb credit card surcharges (2%) so bring your debit card. If you have a problem with service, they will make it right. I've heard nothing but good things about them from dozens of people that I know over the years.
I took my vintage VW bus to Car Craft to get the entire brake system repaired (brakes, pads, hoses, etc). They did a great job and were efficient. I have taken my cars here for 20 years and have always received a fair and honest assessment for repairs. Steve, the owner, has even driven across town to help me with a broken down car. Great guy and a great company!
