It was my parents 30 year anniversary surprise celebration. We were set up with a private room, we had excellent service from start to finish. The âserverâ bent over backwards for us helping us get things set up before our parents arrival, even putting our cake in the refrigerator for us and coordinating the timing of when to bring out the cake. The food was EXCELLENT - huge portions. We requested a more experienced chef and we got one of the funniest most entertaining guys we could have asked for. My dad and the âserverâ hit it off and talked about Korean food (my dad is a Korean War Vet). Come to find out our server was actually the âownerâ â all I can say is âTHE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE ANYWHEREâ. I was truly impressed.
Never have I been so bored in my life. When we go to a hibachi restaurant, we not only expect food to be cooked in front of us...but a fun show along with that. This cook was very boring. He made the food, made the infamous onion volcano, and left. I've seen better. Not to mention that the server spilled HOT soup on us and did not even offer to comp our meal. I heard this is the only hibachi restaurant in Athens, so if you MUST go, stay away from the incompetent server who spills soup on you. I don't remember her name, so stay away from any server with glasses.
My partner and I enjoy Japanese Steak houses and I can only rate Inoko as a 4 star. The food was very good, presentation was OK; I think we had a fairly new chef; and service was excellent! I will say, that I will recommend Shoki over Inoko.
I ordered the special: Chicken, Shrimp, and Scallops, and my partner ordered the Ribeye. Dinner started with soup, followed by a salad and then dinner.
Couple comments: The soup was wonderful, a great consume with fresh mushrooms. Salad - you were given a choice of dressing, I highly recommend the ginger-sesame. Dinner comes with fried rice (that is it, only rice that is fried). Unlike other restaurants I have visited, you pay the extra $1 if you want veggies and egg added to your rice, otherwise you only get fried rice (usually it is just steamed rice at others establishments where you pay the extra $1 for them to fry the rice with the added extras). Veggies include: Zucchini and onion. The scallps and shrimp also come with broccoli.
Warning for shrimp lovers. If you don't mind your shrimp not being de-veined then you will not have a problem. I was a little shocked that they didn't de-vein their shrimp and I had to just accept it since I didn't have a knife where I could do it myself. This was a little distrubing to me since I know what the "vein" really is and I don't appreciate being served it. If you are a scallop lover, then I highly recommend ordering their scallops. They were cooked perfectly and were the best tasting attribute to my plate. Portions are huge, I had enough left over for two additional servings. Chicken was average, nothing spectacular stood out like the scallops did. Plus I do have to admit, the shrimp was cooked perfectly even though it was imperfect to begin with.
Will I go back? Absolutely, I just won't order the shrimp.
