Jockey Club was not all that great. We found the food to be cold. Had to send the soup back to be heated, and my Chef's Potatoes were also cold and tasted as though they had been frozen. They had that grainy texture as a frozen potato does. My pecan chicken wasn't hot either and I never did taste a pecan in it as with other pecan dishes I've had.
The atmosphere was the best part leading one to believe the food would taste as good as the tasteful decorating.
Terrible, terrible service - arrived at 6:00 per our reservation for the advertised special Valentines Dinner - took almost 1 hour to get appetizer and more for salad - three tables of people that came in well after us were served the same dishes we were waiting for. After 1 1/2 hour, we left - never having received out entrees.
The appetizer and salads were good - who knows about the entrees?
Bleh!: Too bad this place is in such a beautiful little town. Washington desereves better. The food is nothing to write home about. Was there recently for the arts festival....the meal I ordered was a small southern restaurants attempt at "exotic" fare such as chicken marsala. It was the worst! Clumpy brown gravy over gummy spagehetti and tasted nothing like the chicken marsala I've had before. I dont even think they used wine in it...this is the bible belt you know. The side dish was squash. Who in the world serves mushy yellow squash with an italian dish. Wouldnt a leafy green vegetable make more sense? To top it off, it wasn't even nicely steamed squash...it was that nasty southern style...all slimy and oily and was literally floating in some sort of brown oil-slicked brew. Bleh.
The appetizers were fair...just your typical fried bites.
Do yourself a favor and try Watchmakers across the street in the old hotel...their food was fantastic!
