The revamped Dai Ichi is much improved. Service is superb. I do miss the fortune cookies (no longer given with check) and the hot towels (probably too expensive to maintain) but service and food is excellent. I find the multiple flat screen TVs (tuned to the food channel) rather distracting but at least they have the sound turned off.
February 23, 2008 - I ate here with my girlfriend and another couple. I had hibachi chicken, someone else had a vegetable and noodle dish, and one other person had hibachi swordfish. The price for the chicken was $10.95. The swordfish was $15 and the vegetable and noodle dish was $11.00. Each of the dishes included soup, salad, and choice of fried or steamed rice. Each couple also had an order of spring rolls for about $3.50 for two.
I would rate the quality of the food about a 4 on a 10 point scale. The chicken was a low quality and dry. The sauces available to put on the dish were subpar - one being a mixture of ketchup and mayonnaise the other a chunky teriyaki sauce. The swordfish was cut into tiny cubes and overcooked. The spring rolls were a bit on the greasy side and full of rice noodles rather than any sort of meat or vegetables.
The service was decent. The atmosphere was pleasant. There is no sushi bar. This restaurant is very similar to Genji (another Warner Robins Japanese restaurant) but with slightly higher prices, lower quality food but nicer decor.
Overall I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I would instead recommend Shoki, Shogun, or Mikataâs. Mikata's sushi bar is surprisingly great if you go when the restaurant and sushi chef is not very busy.
VERY GOOD: GREAT! LOVE THE CHICKEN BINTO!!
