Rosenhof's is Hinesville's best kept secret. Everything is delicious, and the wait staff was kind enough to let me practice my German on them. (At the time, I was pretty bad at speaking it.)
I actually live in Germany now (in Bavaria) and I can't count the number of times I've wished I could just fly over for Dinner one night. lol
If you're looking for an awesome night, (and good beer!) go to Rosenhof's.
This place has the best German food in the states. We travel all the way from Jacksonville, Florida every three months to eat here. We love the food and the atmosphere.
I read the past reviews and, since the Rosenhof is just about the only non-chain, non-blah restaurant in Hinesville, I gave the Rosenhof a try.
I had the Jaeger Schnitzel with Spatzle ($14.93). The mixed salad that came with the entree was good - a nice mixture of cucumbers, green beans, and ice berg lettuce with a tasty, tangy dressing, but not like the real salads you get in Germany. That's probably good since most salads in Germany come out of a jar. Still, I was looking for authenticity.
The Schnitzel was also good, but the mushroom sauce was salty and could have used better mushrooms - they were a little too industrial. The Spatzle was fine, although I'm used to the kind that looks like squiggles of dough. These Spatzle were, like the mushrooms, all cut alike and very mass-produced looking. Overall, though, everything was good tasting, tender, and hot.
Ignore previous posters' comments on the waitresses' dresses - they're authentic. My only gripes were that the music was too loud and although the waitresses are very friendly, they are very casual and were busy chatting with friends or sneaking off to talk on their cellphones (maybe the boss was away when I was there).
Bottom line: Where else are you going to eat in Hinesville? This is good cooking for a moderate price.
