| About: | The Boar's Head claims to be the oldest restaurant on River Street, and is located in a building that was once a cotton warehouse, like most of the buildings in the area. Exposed brick walls decorated with a collection of gold plates and hunting trophies create a cozy atmosphere. From a seat at the bar, or on the small patio, patrons can look out over River Street and the Savannah River. Kitchen specialties include crab cakes and she-crab soup, and the bar recommends Bumbo Punch, a special rum punch. |

My husband and I went there for our 6th anniversary and it was wonderful! We both got steaks (he got a ribeye and I got filet mignon) and they were probably the best we have ever ordered from any restaurant! The mashed potatoes were creamy and delicious! We will definitely be back the next time we go to Savannah.
My family and I took a weekend trip to Savannah last Labor Day 2007. We had planned to go deep sea fishing on Monday, Labor Day. We drove six hours from Birmingham to Savannah. Upon our arrival that Saturday, it was raining and the rain did not let up. We decided to go out to eat and was unable to locate the restaurant we initially were going to eat at, so we popped in and ate at Boar's Head Grill & Tavern. The food was excellent, the service was wonderful, and the atmosphere was lovely. Due to the rain, we canceled our deep sea fishing trip, checked out of our hotel and went back home to Birmingham on Sunday. Needless to say, we joke to this day that it was the most expensive dinner we had ever eaten and we would do it all over again just to eat at Boar's Head.
Definitely Get The Warm Chocolate Bread Pudding: My family enjoyed a truly great meal. I had the best shrimp scampi I have ever had. The warm chocolate bread pudding was awesome. All six of us in my party were very pleased with the services, prices, and food. The building is historic. Clean bathrooms.
