I'm from San Francisco and recently visited friends in Valdosta. The Bistro looked like a nice place for dinner. The decor is nice. The hostess acted like she was doing us a favor seating us, even though the place was almost empty. The food was overcooked and greasy. I've never had shrimp scampi with a big blob of mashed potatoes before. A nice wine list, but very overpriced. The menu is unreadable without a microscope. The wait staff all gathered around the hostess station and chatted among themselves, so it required getting their attention if you wanted something. I think the owners of this place need a wake up call. Perhaps its better at lunchtime.
I have worked at the Bistro for the past year and would recommend it to anyone. Every now and then we have our off days but what restaurant doesn't? Most of the servers are collage students of have multiple jobs. And the kitchen is sometimes slower than usual because we run out of something or we are training a new cook. But the food is excellent and I love it. Having tasted everything on the menu I would highly recommend the onion dip and sesame tuna for an appetizer, for the main course the Drunken Angus (we have these as specials some days) the Grouper Oscar or the Sue Key Yaki. and for desert the cream brulee or the bread pudding.
I recently visited The Bistro restaurant in Valdosta,Ga for lunch and the food was excellent. I really enjoyed the mac & cheese, and the peaceful atmosphere; Also the southern hospitality and service was great I recommend it to anyone who is passing through downtown Valdosta....
