We decided to go here when we were vacationing on Jekyll. We got carryout. I got the pork sandwich with brunswick stew. When I asked about the different sauces available they told me there was only one sauce but there was also hot sauce if I wanted it, which was just store-bought bottles of hot sauce. The food was not that great. The pork sandwich had hardly any bbq on it and had a lot of fat pieces in it. The brunswick stew was nothing more than vegetable soup. Needless to say we will definitely not be returning to this restaurant!
Reviews cant be legit. This place is terrible! I got a pork sandwich and potatoe salad & Baked beans. Sandwich was small with plenty of fat in the meat. BBQ beans and potatoe salad were store bought and tasted like it. They try to sell being authentic but it tastes like a bunch of sides bought from Sams Wholesale club. My wife got Ribs and they were unedible along with a gentleman sitting in front of us we all threw the ribs away. Softdrinks are in cans and at 11:45 in the morning the tea tasted old. This place gives BBQ a bad name!
I have only had the privilege of eating here once in 1997, but the place has some of the best bbq out there. When you can remember a meal for 11 1/2 years that says something. I recommend this place highly and having lived near Lexington, NC for a while I know a thing or two about bbq. It's definitely worth a trip from ANYWHERE, even though the place looks like it is about to fall over. The tough looking owner is a pussycat who loves to chat with his clientele and that makes the whole experience that much better.
