No place is perfect, but this place is as close to it. My husband and I have been going for 5 years now (he's been going his whole life). The food and atmosphere and service is always exceptional. Due to finances we haven't been able to go as often, but they still remember us when we come in and make us feel welcome.
Wow! The meal that wasn't!
My son and I drove to Cafe Amici and arrived at 1:40 on Monday, July 27. There was a small plastic sign that announced the restaurant as open, and the "OPEN" sign was on. We walked in and saw a large party enjoying their meal.
No one was at the desk, so we read the menu and looked at the wine list. We walked around a bit and saw no one serving or working.
We finally went back to our car and phoned, inquiring about lunch. A young man replied, "We're only serving for 8 more minutes." As we were driving to another Italian restaurant, I called and asked to speak to the owner. She told me that they should have welcomed us until the posted closing time of 2:00 for lunch. She apologized and offered to serve us, but we continued to Deorio's--where we enjoyed the most authentic Italian food in Columbus--yes, I've been to Italy and am married to an Italian.
So--after one meal with lousy service and one non-meal, I will never return to Cafe Amici.
the most amazing food I have ever eaten and the creme brulee is to die for
