| About: | Roosevelt came to this town after learning of the healing springs that promised to ease the painful symptoms of his polio-induced paralysis. In honor of the extensive period of time he spent here during his presidency, the state of Georgia dedicated 10,000 acres (4050 hectares) of natural woodlands in his name. The park features rental cabins, camping facilities and a swimming pool cut from mountain stone. The lakes encompassed by the park offer many outlets for fishing, boating, and other water sports. |
