I would like to say to blondiek that the #10 cabin has all new flooring. I'm pretty sure that going out to the store to get shoes for your family to wear in the house was a little over dramatic seeing that the floors are vaccumed after every visit and everything is scrubbed down and cleaned with anti-bacterial sprays.
My family and I stayed at the South Moon fishing camp on a recent fishing trip. We have stayed there before and although it wasn’t fancy, the cabins/homes were acceptable and clean, until this trip. We stayed in house #10 and the carpet was deplorable. I would not walk on it with bare feet and had to go to the Dollar Store to buy flip-flops for the family to wear after taking our showers. The kitchen was run down, there was one TV for the entire house and there was a cold breeze coming down the chimney that had wire mesh covering the opening but no plywood to block out the cold. Some of this is to be expected since it is a “fish camp” but I have stayed at nice hotels for what they are charging and at least the carpet was clean.
The staff was professional and friendly but the problem is not with the staff. The problem is that the accommodations have not been updated in so long that many of the cabins are falling apart and have filthy carpets that should have been changed out twenty years ago. I will not be staying at the South Moon fishing camp again unless and until there have been some improvements made.
