I can't find anything wrong with this place! The food was so great - the grilled Mahi Mahi was perfect, the scallops were small, so they don't get tough, and the crab cakes had big chunks of crab meat in them. The service was great. My husband and I both had the Coastal Seafood Platter with Salad bar (which includes salad, cheese grits, cornbread, soups, etc.) and with tax and tip it was $42. They even brought a plate for my two year old and gave her a cinnamon roll. Oh yeah - it all comes with an amazing cinnamon roll. Enjoy
This is a Daytona tradition for the family... we have never been to Daytona and NOT eaten here. This is the one "must" on the trip. I'm not sure about the bad reviews on here, because we've had good food and pretty good service for over 10 years of vacations. Part of the fun is going out on the dock while waiting to be seated... the place if very popular with local residents (something you should always look for if eating out of town). The fish is cooked just right, the salad bar has a really nice array of options, and the hot bar has really good cheese grits (people in some parts of the U.S. won't know what those are, but TRY THEM). If you haven't absolutely stuffed yourself, the Boatsinker pie is a good thing to top the meal off with. The waiters are all called "cousin" something, the drinks are served in pint sized mason jars, and the plates are shaped like fish. If you're going on a weekend, plan on a wait of up to 45 minutes. It's a big restaurant, but it's so popular that they have to have additional parking across the street. It looks like this place had a couple of bad reviews a few years ago, but it's safe to say if there really was a problem, it's taken care of now.
I am a local and this is one of my favorite restaurants. I love the atmosphere and if you hit the place just as the sun is about to go down you may catch the dolphins playing along the river. Their Sunday brunch is wonderful. If you walk out of here hungry just blame yourself. There is a hot and cold salad bar. The fish is always done right and never over cooked. Wonderful variety to chose from even for the younger children. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
