| About: | Overlooking the St. Johns River in downtown Jacksonville, the Performing Arts Center reopened in 1997 following a major facelift. A beautiful structure, it is divided into a symphony hall and two theaters, surrounded by the natural beauty of the river, which can be seen through the sweeping glass walls of the main hall. The Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra performs here, as well as other top musicians and performers. Call for details on upcoming events and shows. |

Shining Star: A shining star in a coal black night. A small intimate littley theater with excellent acoustics. I love attending events in the Moran. The problem is the stage is VERY small. I saw River Dance there and cast could barely fit on the stage. Love the Jax Symphony if we could just leave the blue jeans and flip flops for the beach!
Computer screen was lit up in the house: When I recently went to see Sweet Charity I was dismayed that the sound booth was in the middle of the house. There was a large computer screen with a live feed so that the sound guy could see the conductor. Unfortunately, I also saw the conductor, for the entire show. It seemed unprofessional to leave the screen in full view with high brightness throughout the entire performance. I'm sure the folks in the front row didn't notice. But do not sit past the middle of the theatre.
bad seats: I tried to purchase ticket for the comedy show on 12/16/05 online . Tickets couldn't be purchased, so then I called the times union center spoke with Becky who was the rudiest person I had ever communicationed with she didn't listen to my needs which caused me to come in person then i was lied to about the location of the seats. They were aweful ccc 66-70 I explained to the rep I want seats with good viewing because two of the three in my party had poor eye sight. I was so disappointed i didn't enjoy the show.
