Tried Billy's for the first time a few days ago for lunch. The flavor was definately good in the soiups, not watery taste although it wasn't as thick as I would have liked. The lunch specials are a good deal for the pricing, the service is fast and food is hot. Good place for lunch.

After reading positive reviews we were looking forward to eating at Billy's Tap Room & Gril. We arrived and our server brought us drinks and took our orders. I had the Grouper Al la George and my girlfriend had the Char-Grilled Giant Shrimp. Our first course arrived in a timely fashion and that was the best I can say for the rest of the experience. The grouper was satisfactory, no complaints to speak of. The Char-Grilled Giant Shrimp was neither...for just under $30 dollars you get four (4) shrimp that are the size of shrimp that are served with your average shrimp cocktail, or med-large shrimp in the frozen food section of your local Albertson's, and they weren't char-grilled, they seemed sautéed.

After our soup and salad arrived, our server completely ignored us and waited on what we can only assume were regulars. My girlfriend sat with an empty wine glass for a half an hour or so. We asked for water and only got one glass; that too sat empty for the duration and I nursed my beer. Our food was brought to us by some other waiter and we didn't see our waiter until we were well into our meal. The shrimp arrived cold, my grouper was not hot, but warm. The waiter asked us how our food was and we said it was "alright", and the waiter seemed a bit put off.

We were just going to pay our bill and go, but the waiter kept pushing the issue until we told her basically what I've written down. At this point she became offended with us and her response to us when we mentioned that we'd sat for over a half hour without food or drink was "well I was just over there (pointing across the room) you could have gotten my attention." To which my girlfriend responded, "you never looked over here, we were trying to get your attention." My unvoiced thought was "great, a restaurant where I have to get find the staff if I want anything...wait, that's a cafeteria". The waiter became very upset with us and it began to escalate, at this point I said "look, you asked. We were just going to pay our bill and go.

At this point, the waiter went off in a huff saying she was going to talk to the chef. I thought "great, that's all I need". The waiter returned and said the chef would give us dessert on the house, we declined and said we just wanted our bill. Which we got...$82.98 for one of the worst eating experiences or our lives. That included two glasses of house Chardonnay and one tap beer. I did not leave a tip and on our way out we spoke to the manager, Daniel Pace. We explained what happened and while he listened and responded, he couldn't be less interested.

We found this recommendation in the Lonely Planet Florida, who has to update it's book. All I have to say is SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED DOLLARS ELSEWHERE. This is a place to avoid if you're looking for any kind of service or value.
