The Jacksonville Farmers Market on West Beaver Street is the real deal!
This is Floridas oldest and Jacksonvilles largest, and really only, true farmers market. Its been at this location on Beaver Street for 70 years (although they just built all new sheds and parking this year - cleaner and much easier to navigate) and has both retail and wholesale vendors. The pricing and selection are unbelievable year round (it is unique in that it never closes, open EVERY day of the year from just before daylight to nightfall as you would expect from a real working farmers market) and there are lots and lots of vendors selling varieties and items not found in any grocery stores or suburban fruit stands. Also, organics and ethnic veggies and flowers, plants sold too. They dont advertise much so word of mouth is the way most people learn of it - really best kept secret in Jax. One visit and you will become a regular. I saw elderly people who said they came with their parents as children! Also, children on school field trips. A great family experience - like going to a farm. A restaurant is suppose to reopen in a few months. Easy to get to - about 1 mile west from I-95 and downtown at foot of Beaver St. viaduct.
