Tire Town & Muffler

Hate to say it, but this is a rare shop - an independent that's been around a long time yet continues to rip people off. I hear horror stories about this place all the time.

My horror story? Being charged 4x the normal amount of hours for a shock replacement. They claimed the whole front end had to come apart. The shocks lasted 6 months. My trusted mechanic had no problem replacing them without taking the front end apart. When I inspected the shocks they had installed, the two didn't even match!! One appeared to be much older than the other, they were different colors, and possibly different brands. To add insult to injury, I kept taking it back saying the shocks were no good, and Jack would lie to my face and tell me that the car was handling normally, acting like I'm crazy. Well, after Jake's Brake's put on a set of KYB shocks (at 1/4 the price) my car handled great.

I don't know if Cosmo still works there, but he's a decent guy and a hell of a transmission tech. I'd hate to tar him with my brush. But Jack (the owner) and his son are both full of it, and I wouldn't trust them any more than a used car salesman.

Do yourself a favor - stay away from Tire Town unless you like being neglected, lied to, overcharged, and given inferior quality parts. Other than that, what a great place!
