I can't get enough of Sierra Grille. Mexican Pizzas, Dank Burritos, Clever Specials. Sierra Grille has been, throughout the last 3 years of my life, the BEST place for Tex-Mex cuisine in Jax Beach, hands down. My time spent around it have led me to very few negative conclusions, the only big one would have to be their knack for attracting a snobbish/rude customer basis. Hummers and Porches pull up, full of fat, well-dressed Ponte Vedra women more than happy to try and cut everyone else in line, howling in their voices of established-privilege and false-prestige "I PHONED AHEAD, DO I HAVE TO STAND IN LINE TOO?!?" or "HOW MANY CALORIES ARE IN THE NACHOS?!?", only to pull out their husband's charge card and gorge away, regardless of the latter's answer. Put maybe I'm just not a humanitarian?
The food there is grilled/prepared in clear view, allowing customers to see exactly how much prep-work and care goes into every meal. Every time I've seen this done at Moe's (which seems to be the only clear competition), the materials have all been pulled out of a frozen pre-portioned baggy. If that doesn't scream one-step-above Taco Bell, I don't know what does. The salsa bar is sublime, full of flavorful salsas, made fresh every single morning, and the dining room, when not filled beyond maximum capacity (which isn't too often), is kept tidy and relatively spotless.
I'd recommend Sierra Grille, despite the people you'll have to stand in line in back of, and would recommend also that you tip the valiant staff, for putting up with so many stuck-up housewives.
it was ok. the steak wasn't seasoned at all. I expected more out of sierra grille. I had to use lots of hotsauce and salsa to make my steak burrito eatable. if i dare compare mainstream texmex places, id rather go to moe's if I had to choose between these 2 mainstream texmex places. you want flavored/seasoned steak? go to moe's.
I've grown up in Ponte Vedra my entire life, there is nothing better than spending a day at the beach or picking up a Sierra salad after class on your way home. I LOVE Sierra Grille, when I come home to PVB in the summers it the first place I go with all my friends.(Cruisers too) It's fresh tex-mex food that is fast and delicious. You can order anything but the Sierra Salad with shrimp is awesome, shrimp tacos with ranch sauce or a steak quesadilla will do. I sometimes get teh Hawaiian burrito if I want to spice things up.
